1. Plan presentations and assemble the needed materials

3. Register for a writing conference and prepare writing samples for a critique
4. Go to writing conferences, meet editors, and take notes
5. Do research in the library, at a museum, on the Internet, or through an interview
6. Go to writers' critique group
7. Revise a manuscript, based on the critique group's suggestions or my own sense of what is "not right"
8. Send personal information to any media outlet that wants to feature me and my work, or might want to
9. Do book signings in bookstores and book festivals
10. Plan and develop various publicity materials: posters, cards, flyers
11. Read books, magazines, and newsletters about writing
12. Record information that might have usefulness down the line in my writer's notebook
13. Study book markets, write query letters, submit manuscripts for possible publication
